From “I Need a Dress” to “I Do” in Three Days
It started with a message:
“I am getting married this Saturday and the dress I was planning on wearing is not working. I know this is desperate, but I wanted to see if I could come and see what you have that is ready to wear?”
Wednesday Morning: “I Need a Dress”
It wasn’t desperate at all, because she had come to the right place.
Sometimes, the dress you thought you would wear simply isn’t the one anymore. And sometimes, that realization happens just three days before your wedding. This is the story of how one unexpected Wednesday morning message became one of the most memorable J’Adore Encore moments.
By the time the bride arrived with her daughter, the plan was simple: find a dress that felt right, determine what needed to be done, and see if we could make it happen.
A Dress That Felt Like Her
She came in with a fairly clear starting vision: something simple, understated and form-fitting, preferably with a slit. Her approximate budget was $2,500, but with her wedding only days away, finding the right dress mattered far more than staying to a particular number. I pulled a handful of gowns that were ready to try on.
And then something interesting happened…

Sometimes, your bridal journey doesn’t unfold quite the way you imagined it would. As she tried on the dresses, her vision began to evolve. She found herself drawn to structured bodices and fuller skirts, particularly in silk satin.

What she thought she wanted when she walked through the door wasn’t necessarily what felt most like her once she began trying gowns on. After about 45 minutes, we had two very strong contenders.
Both were A-line silhouettes with front slits, structured bodices. They shared a similar overall aesthetic, but each had a very different construction and feel. One was true white, the other was vanilla and she fianlly chose the true-white gown.
And there was another beautiful detail: although it was a preloved gown, it had never been worn and had never been altered. It was essentially a blank canvas, waiting for its next bride.
Making It Hers
The gown of course needed some alterations through the bodice, along with a royal bustle, to make it fit her beautifully and work perfectly for her wedding day. My alteration specialist got right to work. By Friday, the gown was ready.
“And on Saturday afternoon, just three days after that first message, she walked down the aisle in a dress that had been waiting for her.“
What Encore Made Possible
There is something I love about this story because it captures what Encore Bridal can make possible. Sometimes, bridal plans change. Sometimes, they change at the very last minute. But that doesn’t mean a bride has to compromise on how she wants to look or feel on her wedding day.
At Encore, the right gown may already be waiting — and with the right eye, the right expertise and a little bit of magic, it can become her dress. That’s one of the beautiful things about preloved bridal.
And the final price? $2,050! Beautifully within her approximate budget, without compromising on the dress she wanted.
A J’Adore Encore Moment
There is no long ordering timeline. There is no waiting months for a gown to arrive. And there is no need to compromise on beautiful design, quality construction or the vision you have for yourself as a bride. In this case, she found a gown that felt completely right, had never even been worn, and could be tailored specifically to her.

Helping her find that dress was one of the most joyous days I’ve had since opening Encore. Not simply because we managed to find a gown and have it altered in three days. It was because she didn’t have to compromise.
She didn’t have to settle for something simply because she was short on time. She didn’t have to abandon the vision she had for herself. And she didn’t have to choose between the experience she wanted and the time she had available. She came to Encore needing a dress. She left with her dress.
And that, to me, is a true J’Adore Encore moment.
